Whether you have served in the war, know someone who did, or have simply visited any of our Second World War cemeteries and memorials, we would love to hear from you.

We want to capture your testimony to create a legacy for those who gave their lives for liberation.

Some notes for recording

Step 1: Questions

We have created a list of five questions, feel free to answer any or all the questions. We suggest that the recording lasts no longer than 15 minutes. Use our questions to form the basis of the recording.

Step 2: Recording your audio

To record your contribution to the sound archive, all you need is a smartphone and a quiet space for the recording. Follow our steps to record your audio.

Step 3: Taking photo:

Alongside the audio, we’d love to have a photo of you recording your soundbite. It could be a photo of you recording for the archive, captured by a friend or family member. It could be a photo of a relative who served in the Second World War, or perhaps it could be a photo of a CWGC site or memorial you have visited. Follow our steps to capture the photo.

Alternatively, if you have no photo, you don't need to fill out the 'Upload an image' section on the right.

Step 4: Getting your files to us:

1) Send your audio and photo files directly to

2) Fill in the “about you section” and upload your files through the next steps.
